Good news shadowed by horrible news.

Well guys, the good news is that I killed a nice buck this morning (photo's and story to follow). The bad news is I got a call from my doctor this morning asking for my wife and I to come in as soon as we could so I hauled but to the house and took a shower. My wife met me at his office at 11:30.

You see, as some of you know, I suffer from chronic back pain due to a back injury 12 years ago. Lately I have noticed that I cannot remember simple things, like names, spelling, roads ect..... On my last visit, we talked in great length about this and he sent me to Duke to see a specialist. My doctor and the specialist agreed that the problem is stemming from the amount of narcotics and the length of time that I have had to use them.

Well guys, I have some bad news ......Turns out that the problem has nothing to do with my medication. I am suffering from the early stages of Dementia. Folks I am scared to death!!! Please pray for me and my family. We sure need it.

Prayers sent...but don't accept that news without lots of consults. Do lots of studying up on nutrition as well. Fight, fight, fight until you can't fight anymore. There's too many things out there that mimic that diagnosis.

Wow sorry to hear that. I will be praying for you and your family. There is lots of new stuff out there on diet and other things and dementia. Some of it may help you fight it.

Don't take this lying down...........exercise your mind & body. You can delay the effects of this.

Work puzzles, read difficult articles, eat the right diet, make every effort to use your brain!

Wishing you the best in your fight.

Good luck Bigtime. May be right... may be wrong. They were the first time. Main thing is don't be afraid and let yourself get down. A positive mind is a strong one. Just look around at all the negativism in some folks and how bad they feel. There's an old song says, "keep on the sunny side". You might want to hum that from time to time.

Sorry to hear about this, bigtime. I wish you and your family all the best in the days ahead. Stay positive. They are doing lots of research on dementia and related mental issues, and science is making progress on treatment. Keep the faith and keep us posted!
