Good news shadowed by horrible news.

My mom went through this too. They have some good people at duke, so you're probably in good hands.

Prayers for you and your family. I've read up just a little on this we found out my FIL is suffering from it. Like other have said there are things you can do to slow the effects.

Sorry it took a bit to get back to this. He's 60 and his issues are due to too many concussions. They are teasing him with Alzheimer's medication and it is helping.

Thank you UncleFester, they put me on Donepezil / Aricept . He said that I should notice a difference in a few weeks.

My wife used to sell a drug called Exelon patch for dementia. It is supposed to keep it from getting worse for years. You may want to look into it. Best of luck

Not everyone diagnosed with Dementia progresses to Alzheimers. Seeing a Neurophysiologist early on can have a huge impact on outcomes..... Good luck to you my friend.

Prayers sent. You're definitely taking the right approach to this. My mom starting showing signs many years ago and she and my dad tried to hide it from everyone. If she had been up front with the doctors she might be in better shape today.

My Father, 94 is going thru that. It's hard to keep him motivated. Like others have said, getting to a doctor and discovering the problem is the best first step. Stay as active as you possibly can, including your mind. Prayers sent up for you and your family.

Prayers on the way.

We're studying some good treatments right now. No guarantees, but some of the drugs we're working on are doing things others haven't.

I thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes. Giving up would be so easy but every time that I look into the eyes of my children, it makes me want to fight even harder!!!! The big plus is that I have my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on my side:).

Prayer sent. My sister has it she was a bad alcoholic, and it started on her about 15 years she is 49,she does not know what day or year it is,thinks it still 1992. It is hard to see her like that, buddy I don't know you but sure hope you do not have it , may be just age is telling on ya. I get absent minded from time to time myself, just ask my wife I cant remember what for. I know a guy who has it but not too bad, when he started showing signs, he had his family and friends and himself write down, record and video all of events and hunting stories . birthdays etc. so when he had a bad day he can watch and read something to help him remember.

Got a call from the specialist from Duke. He wants to see us in the morning. Could be good, could be bad:confused:
