"Red Wolf Reward Growing

Private Landowners intend this week on offering the largest red wolf reward in history, all in an effort to aid the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with leads regarding the federally protected red wolf found with an apparent gunshot wound on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, East of Columbia, in Tyrrell County, North Carolina. Based on body condition and field sign, the actual date of death is estimated to be Sept. 26. 2014, the agency reports.

Red wolves in North Carolina are protected under the Endangered Rare Species Act as an experimental, non-essential population. For example, a red wolf taken incidentally to any type of legal activity (e.g., hunting coyotes and not the during the federal injunction) on private lands in the red wolf recovery area does not constitute a violation of the federal regulation, provided that the taking is not intentional or willful and is reported to the Service or the Commission within 24 hours."

As of 3/28/15, the Reward offered is $25,000

(Im probably going to get jumped on for this..) I thought everyone on here didn't like red wolves, what am I missing here. (Not saying its ok to kill them and break the law). Just wondering if there is a separate agenda to finding the shooter.

We might not agree with how this program has been run and the federal judge inserting himself into what should be a state issue over land owners rights as well as the state wildlife management of an invasive specie the coyote. We as hunters and landowners have a vested interest in solving this case because the shooting of wolves is used to paint our side as a bunch of outlaws and renegades. This day and age issues like this is won and lost in the arenas of public opinion. the other side of the argument can not be allowed to claim the high ground of law and order especially with all the illegal and unethical tactics the feds have used running this problem. So let's find out who committed this heinous act and let a jury hear the argument and decide.

It's not that we don't like wolves, we don't like the impact the wolf has had on our rights and our wildlife. We would just like to get to the bottom of who has been killing these wolves and for what reason. It makes the sportsmen of ENC look bad when the killings are blamed on the group not the one.

Record Red Wolf Reward Has Been Reached

$26,100 in 48 hours

I just received two additional pledges. $100 from a local hunter and $1,000 from a private landowner, conservationist and hunter.

The total reward including the USFWS $2,500 is now $26,100. This is quite an achievement and speaks to the value of this particular case being solved.

It is important to note that none of the so called "conservation and animal rights" groups have added to our reward.
Do not worry, I will formally ask them to participate.

Thanks for your generous support. We will now see if Tom Mackenzie of USFWS can publicize this reward as he has the others.

I don't understand,it has been six months since this wolf was gunned down and no reward for this wolf. Seems this is the first not to get a reward from RWC, have they given up on the wolf? Something seems fishy here,WHY no reward from them? Makes one wonder!

Dear Mr. Mackenzie,

A group of private landowners and hunters would like to offer a one time reward of $23,600 for information leading to the arrest, conviction and sentencing of one year imprisonment and $100,000 fine of the person responsible for killing the "September 30th" wolf per your news release here:

http://www.fws.gov/refuge/alligator_...7-redwolf.html

Including the USFWS reward of $2,500, this will bring the total reward up to $26,100, the largest reward ever offered for the killer of a red wolf.

At this time, we would like to offer a formal match challenge to the Red Wolf Coalition, The NC Wildlife Federation, Humane Society of US, Center for Biological Diversity. Can you please assist in contacting these organizations?

Mr. Mackenzie, as USFWS Media Relations Specialist, will you please put together and issue a few AP press releases about this reward offer and challenge as USFWS did here:

http://www.fws.gov/southeast/news/2013/082.html

The "September 30 wolf kill" is of particular interest to the hunters and private landowners of Eastern NC.

Contact me if you have any further questions and I thank you for your help.

Mr. Mackenzie,

I am sure you were hoping the below email reward offer was an April Fools' joke.

It was not.

In fact, I would like to inform you that the NC Triangle Chapter of the Safari Club International has now pledged $5,000 towards our reward offer with the same conditions. The private landowners and hunters of Eastern NC sincerely appreciate this offer of support to our efforts to solve the "September 30th wolf killing" by the NC Triangle Chapter SCI Chapter.

We anxiously await your AP releases regarding this record reward offer of now $31,100 for the "September 30th wolf killing".

The "September 30 wolf kill" is of particular interest to the hunters and private landowners of Eastern NC.

I thank you.

So to summarize this because I haven't paid attention....

People think the death of the wolf is either 1)Fake or 2) Done on purpose by a government entity to continue with the program and paint hunters in a poor light?

No we don't know what happened..... at a critical time in the debate a red wolf was killed and the federal government and a few other places publicized this and then went silent. There are a lot of rumors out there as to what took place but none of us exactly know what happened. Lets get to the bottom none of us know the motivation of the individual of who may of killed it and that's why we need this case solved and made public.

Nothing fake about the wolf being killed. It was announced by the USFWS and then all went quiet. No overwhelming media flood requesting info for arrest/conviction by the usual USFWS, RWC, DOW, AWI, SELC circus. Makes us all wonder why and thus the reward we're offering. Somebody killed the thing and somebody knows who it was......and it wasn't a hunter!

Well I don't think USFWS is going to charge this person and surly not going to convict him, I hear someone called them about it and was hung up on. They don't want to hear it. Why?

Perhaps USFWS etc. is worried they can't prove it's really a wolf.

Dear Ms. Davis or Mr. Fleming,

I received this email from Mr. Mackenzie yesterday:

From: MacKenzie, Tom <tom_mackenzie@fws.gov>
To: jettferebee <jettferebee@aol.com>
Date: Mon, Apr 6, 2015 10:08 am

Sorry to miss your e-mail, but I am out on leave. Will be back on Monday April 13.

If it is hot, please call Elsie_davis@fws.gov 404-679-7107 or Jeff Fleming, jeffrey_m_fleming@fws.gov 404-679-7287.

All the best,

Tom
M: 678-296-6400

Ms. Davis or Mr. Fleming, Tom said to contact you two with anything "hot".
He also wishes me all the best!

Over the weekend additional private landowners and hunters have added $20,000 more to our reward offer bringing the total reward offer now to $51,100, a new record.

I consider this extremely "hot". Can you two maybe get those AP Press Releases out this week and surprise Tom when he returns? He will be so excited.

Also do not forget to contact Mr. Gestwicki at the NC Wildlife Federation, Ms. Wheeler at the Red Wolf Coalition, Walter Jones can likely help with the Humane Society of US and maybe the Center for Biological Diversity for a matching reward offer.

For our many readers, will you please include a brief synopsis of what has occurred with this red wolf killing investigation so far? People are very curious.

The "September 30 wolf kill" is of particular interest to the hunters and private landowners of Eastern NC.

Thanks for your help.
