2014 NC Bear Harvest Statistics

TWENTY-EIGHT counties reported ZERO bear.
SIX counties reported ONE bear.
THREE counties reported 2 bear.
ONE (Person) reported 8 bear.

NC Piedmont bear season ... 20 bear for 38 counties ... what a bad JOKE.

Its supposed to be that way.

The NCWRC does not want bears in the Piedmont.

If that is the case, they should just declare them varmints instead of placing more restrictions on the hunters here.

No argument from me.

Manage them like coyotes- no limits, no closed season

20 bears for 38 counties is probably right.....no one with any knowledge of the piedmont bears thought it would be high. I did figure a couple to come out of orange and alamance considering the sightings there but a lot of piedmont hunters didnt buy bear tags ...i also figured Caswell would have more than person but the numbers are what they are. A few taken here and there mostly by guys deer hunting that happened to buy a bear License.
