An old turning plow is a pigweed's worst nightmare! Turn those pigweed seeds under this fall/winter.

A good cover crop, good chemical usage/timing is the best method for pig weed control.. Actually a plow is the worst thing you can do to it.

Yeah I was going to say plowing them up will not do jack. I did use a turning plow this year and last year before planting and got more pigweed this year than last year. Sprayed the plot with glyphosphate and light amount of atrazine about 2 months before planting.

Breaking up the crop rotation with grain sorghum or other crop can provide varied herbicide choices to improve resistant species control. No-till and cover crops are vital not just for soil quality and production, but for erosion control and water quality as well. The Yadkin River was running awful red earlier this week with a lot of tillage in the headwater areas. There has been some good cost share funds in the past for alternate crop rotation to combat herbicide resistant weeds.

Dicamba will kill it but it will kill all broadleafs also. We spray our pastures with it to keep the pigweed out
