kidney stones

THat is when they kill you when either passing through the ureter of getting stuck especially the jagged hard ones first time is always the worse. I get them chronically have couple in kidney now luckily no pain and won't have till the day they move then its on. Glad they caught it before you got into anything like that kidney backing up its called hyrdronephrosis and very dangerous as well as an actual kidney infection while not common is way more risky that bladder infection. I've learned real quick to stay away from things like tea and dark colas and to not let myself get dehydrated. Biggest problem I have is the lower protein diet I love my meats
I don't drink any colas but I do indulge the tea some.

My son only drinks water. Maybe one Capri Sun every couple of days. His kidney doctor said he'll likely be in your shoes by his twenties. Having them surgically removed, that is. He drinks close to a gallon of water a day and still gets them. He's a picky eater and his diet isn't the best, but I assume that can be expected for a 4' 11" 93lb 9 year old. We make sure he gets his vegetables and fruits in between meals. Still little improvement.

Sometimes they just occur even with the precautions even with people taking something like Lithostat testing on recovered stones can give you idea same with 24/hr urine test both should be done if anyone has had them more than twice

I gave birth to a 4 MM oblong baby bastard that looked strikingly like a sandspur about a hour ago. Now if I could just get that other one to turn loose that feels like a literal thorn in my side I would be a happy camper.

You might need to consider a second occupation in porn if you can pass them that large LOL I had to have a 5mm surgically removed because they said there was no way you could pass them that size. Or maybe he was just referring to my small equipment. LOL

brother, porn is the very last thing on your mind going through this....the 6.87 x 3.78 was the largest I have ever passed..first one out......I have collected them all since 2010...these were numbers 39, 40, 41, and 42 ...I measure with my dig caliper to get size, and then weigh them on my powder scale...these things are trophies just like an eight pointer...if I can get pics off of phone to here you will see em.

24hr test showed too much calcium and sodium. Drink more water we were told. nccatfisher, that lemonade I mentioned earlier will help soften them. Worked wonders for my boy.

I told my wife I was going to get some tomorrow, that stuff makes me pee like a race horse and I love it so it can't hurt.

Lipton Green Tea [in the Pepsi section of your local 7-11 store cooler] will make you trot to the restroom more than anything I have found.
I have gout but not KS's yet. Green tea has helped clean me out before, try it.

Tim, I have had 15 plus of them, noticed along time ago that mine started moving when I strarted playing basketball every fall and such. The jumping up and down was getting them moving. so now when i feel one I drink alot of beer and run either on a treadmill or the road and i can get rid of them fast. that jarring gets them moving quick.

Basketball is out with 4 levels fused with rods and screws. This white boy can't jump anymore.

The stats say that they are so much more common these days in people leads you to think our modern day diets are likely culprits. Calcium Oxalate are the frequent ones its hard to stay as hydrated as need to and eat/drink just perfect. Iffel for everyone that has had em they will bring grown man to his knees

I have always heard that anything larger than 5mm would prob not pass......I know now that is not correct...

Thank the good Lord I have never had a kidney stone, yet..I heard a noise coming from the bathroom at work one day years ago, someone was in there swearing..I went in it was a multiple stool type bathroom and a fellow co-worker was sitting on the throne with a paper drinking cup in his hand and a piece of toilet paper inside the cup..He was bowed up like a constipated Dog and I asked him what was wrong...Damn kidney stone he replied as he continued to curse which was something that man rarely ever did..I left him in agony after he said there was nothing I could do.. A few minutes later he came over with the cup in his hand, it was bloody inside but the stone was on top of the toilet paper...That is what was making me curse he told me..

This picture is from my Dad after the lithotrispy was done the first time, maybe 5 years ago. We took him to the ER several months ago for his 59th or 60th kidney stone. He actually had 2 in different locations. One was 8mm, and required another lithotrispy. Of all the stones he's had, only 3 times has he gone to an ER. The first time we were told the good news is I know what's wrong with you, the bad news is you have 2 kidney stones. He also had 2 little robin eggs in his bladder that they had to work on. On the last ER visit we found out he quit taking a medication to help prevent the formation of the stones and possibly reduce the size of small stones. That is Potassium citrate. He has started taking it again. One way he can tell he's having a kidney stone attack is his testicles hurt. Like a lot. Asked a guy I know if his testicles hurt when he had an attack. He said he wanted to ask a nurse for a scaple so he could castrate himself. Lol. Hope I don't have to go through it!!! My dad usually urinates through a strainer and catches some from time to time. He's showed me several times over the past few years the clear plastic cups he urinated in when he knew he had a stone moving. Looked like tomato juice. Also, he went to a restroom in a restaurant and a guy must have glimpsed the urinal my dad was using. Dad said it looked like he was peeing blood like a stuck hog, and the guy made a "throw up" sound and put his hand over his mouth. Dad apologized and told the guy he had a kidney stone. Dad sure did laugh when he told that story.

I had no idea what I was missing! The descriptions here make my knees buckle just reading them. I now remember visiting a friend of a friend some time back who was in the hospital on serious pain medication and being wrecked from a kidney stone. So what is the root cause?

Forgot to add in my earlier post. The treatment total for my dad was $30,000-$35,000. I may need to adjust this later. With insurance and medicare(the one for older persons), he may not have to pay much.

Urologist buddy of mine swears by the lemon juice. He said there was a specific ratio of juice to water but it works. Not lemonade mind you, but lemon juice.
