Pay attention, below a 6, you're losing use of a lot f your N, P, and K.

Soil tests are very important, not that it's typically an issue with us around here, but an alkaline PH can stunt growth of plants as well. Most of the time a mildly acidic soil is more productive than an alkaline soil for our food plot purposes.

6.5-7 is ideal for most everything.

pH also is also on a parabolic cure. 4 is not twice as acid as 8.


Alkaline soils were a problem in MN. We applied a lot of sulfur in our prescription soil treatments.


A lot of trees showed deficiencies in a certain nutrient, but the soil test showed it as being sufficiently available, but the pH didn't allow for proper uptake of that given nutrient.
