cutting a barrel

I have an H&R single shot .410 that I had drilled and tapped and put a red dot on it years ago. I've had no luck selling it so I'm thinking about cutting the barrel to remove the full choke. Messing with a removable choked .410 bolt gun we found the tightest groups and highest velocity with no choke (external threads). How far back should I cut it to remove the choke? Any tips for keeping it square? Should make a dandy short range deer/varmint shotgun....

I would say you would get all of it at an inch, you can cut an inch and mic. it to be safe. If it doesn't mic. out at .410 go back a little more. I would get a crowning tool to square it.
