Not feeling so good about a shot

First good buck I've seen all season and I don't like how it played out. Deer came around the side of the hill I got him to stop and pulled the trigger and when I did I seen dirt fly up behind him. I thought dang I over shot him but when it took off I thought he had been hit so I give it some time walked up on the side of the hill and seen where the bullet hit in the dirt. I got to looking and found some hair and small amounts of blood going around the hill. I backed out going tomorrow to look for it but I'm afraid I grazed his back.

Bullets do funny things after they hit. Good luck today finding him.
Sometimes it takes a minute for the blood to get going good.

If you found hair / blood, its definitely worth following up this morning. You just never know.......

Hope u find him...I had a very similar experience yesterday.

Shot at a 18" wide 8 pointer that was below me on the mountain and in a poplar thicket.

Buck didnt act hit and I was sure I missed...finally found 1 spot of watery blood 80-100yds away.

4 of us grid searched that mountain and creek bottom with not even another speck of blood
