December 5th 2002 I was 11 years old, killed a doe at 40 yards with a single shot .410 and a slug. First shot got but her in the neck the next in the back, I was one happy 11 year old. I later on let a "friend " borrow the gun and the low life sold it, still makes me mad...
I think it was a winchester model 94 30-30 with a weaver scope. Shot a doe using my dad's shoulder as a rest, while he plugged his ears. I think it was 1980. 7th grade.
My uncles rem 700 in .243. Cowhorn. I put the cross hairs on his heart and popped him right in the neck...i may have had buck fever lol I was in 4th or 5th grade I believe.
My first deer was a 150# doe I shot in Randolph County WV with a PSE 65-85# compound set at 74# on October 16, 1990. The shot was 18 yards and the deer ran 30 yards before falling. I was using a Thunderhead 160 grain broadhead at the time on the front of a 29" 2219 XX75 aluminum arrow.
Five point buck in anson county, with a savage model 110 in 270. No longer have the rifle, sold when times got hard up.Made up my mind never to sell another gun now that my son is older, one day they'll be passed down to him. Didnt have the deer mounted wish i did.
Iver Johnson single shot 12 gauge, serial number 784. My Grand dad's gun that hung on two nails above his bedroom doe. He died in 1968, I can remember seeing him only twice. October 1973, Granville Co, Charlie Stovall road. Four pointer be run by dogs. Winchester 0 buck, 2-3/4" Super X. It was the first day I had ever deer hunter and the first stand we stop on. Only about five minutes in the hunt.
Windsor Gun Club, Bertie Co. NC, Winchester model 37a 12ga. single barrel 3" double 0. Big doe, that was 1975,13yrs. old. Gun is sitting right behind me, makes my shoulder hurt to look at it!
Not much to it really. I was 12 or 13 riding beside a standing cornfield WFO. The first doe crossed about 50' in front of me and I saw the second doe as she jumped into the front forks. It messed the bike up pretty good and I was scraped and skinned up, covered in deer juice but otherwise fine.
Bought my first new gun a few months before the '92 season, a 21" bbl Remington 870. Mounted a Simmons 2.5x20 scope and shot a bunch of the old Winchester foster slugs. Shot a spike at 40yds opening week. It was right at the end of legal shooting time and in the woods, so with the muzzle flash didn't see him run. Once my BIL got there and settled me down we found him 30 yards away in some thick brush. Haven't hunted with it in years but still resides in the safe.
Slick head with Browning bow and some cheap wal-mart broadhead. I was about 10' up in a white oak. Luckily I had good cover from a holly tree growing up beside the oak cause I was wearing regular ol shorts, tennis shoes, and a solid green shirt. Now I feel bad if I ant in full camo....how the times have changed and so much is over thought and commercial instead of just going hunting Lol!
