Less Than Well Drained Soil

I have a lower 2 acre field that the farmer no longer plants because of drainage issues. I have watched it for the past 10 months and the water doesn't actually pool but you can feel the looseness/wetness of the soil but that too isn't a constant. It just lingers that way for about a week after a decent rainfall. Any suggestions on what would be a good harvest plot seed blend for this less than well drained soil? Will I be wasting clover and chicory seed planting a spring plot?

I would use a shallow rooted plant that had a fast maturation rate, such as grain or some legumes. Clover has a crown that has to dry out and cannot stay wet or the plant will rot so it's not a good choice for a wet spot like you are describing.
Some brassicas can stand a wet area, and they can be planted, germinate and be hunted over in a very short period of time. The plant itself does not need to mature to be an effective food source.
