Virginia state house rejects baiting of deer

They cite CWD for the reason of no baiting but it is legal to feed the deer for 9 months of the year. I guess the deer know not to spread germs in the off-season.

The VDGIF had proposed at one time banning feeding every month of the year except July.

Hunters whined and complained and they backed off.

Plus you cannot feed or bait at anytime in any county with CWD.

I did listen to the recording of the meeting this was proposed in and it started as a proposal to end all feeding of deer. After this a person spoke up to ask that there be at least one month for trail camera surveys. I was opposed to this as well as a lot of Virignia hunters. My main reason for the opposition was there was no solid reason to only do it for one month
