If I had seen that while hunting, I'd have thought it was someone's dog, I did the same thing initially when I saw a black one.

Definitely a different color phase and appears that the hair is a bit longer than the ones I'm seeing. Congratulations on taking another one out of the gene pool. Female or male?

I thought the same thing. Would probably passed if it been a quick look.

Pretty animal though.

Caught one similar in Granville several years ago that had long hair like that,not quite as much dark markings. Nevertheless that is a striking coyote. Picked up 2 blacks this year, colors just seem more and more each year.

Hired a fellow to move a camper for me this week, said he'd caught a black one too in the past few days. Also said he'd caught over 60 so far this year.
