Speaking of surgery, who's had...

A hernia repair. I had laporoscopic umbilical hernia surgery on Monday. First day wasn't too bad but yesterday was kinda rough. Post op constipation sucks. Between that and the swelling,I felt like was going to pop. Finally pooped with much relief. Still stuffed though. Gonna get some mag citrate today and let it flow.

I had a hernia repair in 1994. Mine was down around my junk. Like you, first day wasn't too bad, but it got worse after that. The worst was sitting down, standing up and driving a car....

I had hernia surgery about 4 years ago, friends of mine told me it was some of the worst surgery a man can have. I got along fine with it except a little swelling in the lower parts that went away after a few days. Even the soreness from the surgery wasn't extreme, guess I was lucky..

No hernia surgery but had bladder surgery in October to remove a tumor. He opened me up from my belly button to my junk and used 22 staples to close it up. The scar looks like a muskrat trail across a mud bar.

I'v had laporoscopic umbilical hernia surgery ...twice. Actually the first wasn't laporoscopic, it was regular, the surgeon used a piece of mesh that wasn't big enough but I think I might have caused it to re-occur. the third day was the worst (both times)...hard to get out of bed, basically the soreness felt like I did about a thousand sit-ups. I was given some kind of stool softener. You'll feel better in a couple days

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Took some magnesium citrate about 30 minutes ago and I feel much better :). Actually typing this from the toilet. LOL. What did you do to make it reoccur?

I've had 3. They all sucked. Getting into a coughing fit is not at all fun. The first day was OK as with a lot of surgeries.... Took a bit to feel OK again. The right side was worse than the left when it came to pain. Idk why.

I had an inguinal Hernia repair Monday Feb 6. it was a full cut and install mesh. A previous surgery prevents any lapo surgery for me. The first 4 days were really painful. Now at day 10 and still have pain in the area but much improved. Of the three surgeries I've had (the other two were not hernia related) in the same general area this one resulted in the most pain.

I had inguinal hernia surgery back in the rough old days and by Air Force doctors. Mine was also a full cut with installation of a mesh. It definitely was an attention getter and no piece of cake. I was placed on DNIF (Duties Not Involving Flying) for 20 days. I was stationed in Spain but they were doing some upgrades to the medical facilities at the base in Spain so I was medivac'd to Germany for surgery. I was also placed on convalescent leave for 20 days after surgery with no lifting over 5 pounds. The moment I got back to Spain my little two year old girl came running to me and no way in hell I was going to ignore or refuse to grab her and hug her and pick her up, which I did. Not a wise thing to do.

My wife made the decision that I needed to come to NC because she knew I wasn't going to ignore my little girl. The next day I climbed "a mile and a half" up the ramp and stairs in a C-5 aircraft for a flight to the states. If you have never been on a C-5 I'll tell you it's not your typical boarding such as boarding a commercial flight. None of those level loading ramps you walk slightly down to the aircraft entrance. It's climbing ramps then ladders on up to the area where any passengers are placed. By the time I made it to the passenger area of the C-5 I was sweating profusely and the Load Master asked me what the hell was wrong with me. I explained so he escorted me to the cockpit and a more comfortable seat and better heat control. I've flown in the C-141 and the C-5 where a drop of water froze instantly if spilled on the floor of the aircraft. Needless to say it wasn't very warm in the open bay of these aircraft where normally the passengers are located. LOL.

After the surgery I remained in Germany for a couple of days until I could catch the medivac aircraft back to Spain. I did have pain and they gave me some kind of pain medicine. That stuff was something else. Shortly after I took the pain meds I could feel my body "shutting down". It scared me and I told them I did not want anymore of that, whatever it was. They changed the meds which took care of most of the pain but not all but I preferred that over the other meds they had given me. I was sore for awhile, never had any infections or swelling to speak of so I guess they must have known what they were doing. Three weeks later I was back to full duty.

I too had an open right inguinal hernia repair, in 2010. I've had both my lower pectoral muscles removed and would prefer both those pains at the same time over the pain I felt and occasionally still feel from the hernia repair. Good luck on recovery. I've heard laporoscopic is a less bumpy road but one that involves pain none the less.

I wasn't suppose to do ANYTHING for a week...it was garden time so my son was going to do some stuff for me, he was like 14 or so..there was a metal fence post that needed to be pulled up and he couldnt get it up...so I thought il just wiggle it around to loosen it up for him, I got it going back and forth pretty good and the thing broke off at the ground and sent flying backwards on my arse...I knew that wasn't good
