Baiting is big business and Alabama might be the next state to cash in

Two Alabama State Senators who represent a large chunk of the Lake Martin area have introduced a bill that would legalize hunting deer and wild hogs over bait.

Sen. Tom Whatley (R- Auburn) and Sen. Gerald Dial (R-Lineville) are sponsors of Senate Bill 189 that would amend hunting laws in a manner that would allow the now illegal practice of placing food like shucked and shelled corn in area where it would attract deer and hogs close to waiting hunters.

I am pretty sure it was shot down last year or the year before there. My guess someone has some personal contacts high up and they are wanting to get it passed for their "plantations" down there. As a whole it isn't looked on real favorable by the most I have run into.

The one proposal would require the bait in a tub or feeder

http://alisondb.legislature.state.al.us/alison/searchableinstruments/2017RS/bills/HB137.htm
"(b) A landowner or an agent, servant, employee, or another person authorized by the landowner in writing may lawfully bait the landowner's property for white tail deer or feral swine in accordance with the act adding this subsection. Placement of bait may not be on the ground but must be in a container, tub, trough-type feeder, or timed mechanical feeder.

Legal or not, I haven't seen a deer killed in Alabama the 4-5 years I hunted there that corn didn't roll out of'em when they were cleaned.

You can legally bait now but the law says you can't be with in 100 yards and it cannot be in direct line of sight.
