Twelve Pointer
For folks wanting to hunt some pretty good public land, the Carolina Sandhills NWR has a draw hunt for turkey [youth and adult]. Call 843-335-8401 to get an application, which has to be completed and returned by March 1, 2017.
You can ride down there and fill out the permit in person [at this late date, good idea].
From Charlotte take Hwy 74E to 601S in Monroe then 601/151 to McBee,SC then take US 1N a couple of miles to the NWR on the left.
From Raleigh, take US 1S the NWR is on the right before you get to McBee,SC.
The local strawberry orchards just south of McBee already have ripe fruit too.
