I build a lot of bases for taxidermists, and have just gotten into wood turning. The best place I have found in NC is Wall Lumber in Mayodan NC (North of Greensboro). They have every species you can possibly imagine, and their prices and selection are much better than Woodcraft.

Check them out:

Hope this helps...

What thickness do you need? I have some 4/4 pieces at work(we import tropical lumber)that we send out as samples. I could send you a couple of pieces if 4/4 (15/16 surfaced) will work.

I second Wall Lumber in Mayodan. I turn calls and make several trips a year for exotic woods. http://www.walllumber.com/default.asp
