Charter advise

Wife is pretty awesome, she suggested for our anniversary to just go to Topsail and take a charter out.
We'll be going down in late April, so hopefully there will be a solid bite. We'd like to do some bottom line fishing near shore or inshore depending on the weather/bite.
So who would yall suggest to book a charter with in the area?

What you want to catch....that is the big factor on charters. There are multiple guides in that area and some specialize on different fish.

Ricky Kellum. Speckled specialist .. speckled trout.... New River
Allen Jernigan. Breadman Ventures.. red drum and flounder... New River
Wayne Crisco. Last Resort Charters. Flounder.. All around Topsail Island and near shore reefs.

All 3 of these guys have Facebook pages. It is best to go ahead and charter you trip before they fill up.

What we want to catch is really just dependent on whats bitting. Always like some snapper and grouper, but if its inshore really only interested in reds n specks

i would relocate! Fish out of Oregon inlet if you want to catch, and fill your freezer. Might be the beginning of the bite of the first BIG dolphin or typical spring tuna bite.

This^ if you really want to have a great trip! OI offshore fishing is incredible, a little pricey but a great experience.

Yellowfin will be around OI in late April.

Plus, you have a shot at some gaffer dolphin, just not in the numbers you see in June...

The houses on VRBO are really affordable in April before the summer season gets cranked up.

See if you could find a buddy or two to drive to OI on the day of the charter and split the trip with you?
