Rainwear suggestions

My Walls 10x rain jacket finally gave out after 14 years. I didn't see the jacket on Walls website or similar type.

The jacket was an uninsulated camouflage Gore-Tex.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a new rain jacket, is there any new fabrics that are better than Gore-Tex?

Thanks

For an excellent value check out Cabelas Rain Suede. I used it e wry day on a Colorado elk hunt and was impressed,

I use a frogg toggs camo rain suit and it works well. They are not insulated and they are light weight so they can be packed away when not needed. I ordered mine thru Cabelas or you can probably go to their website www.froggtoggs.com. I think I paid about $25 for the set.

My last two Gore-Tex shells each lasted 8 years of year-round use. I don't think you can beat Gore Tex for breathability while being waterproof.

That said, Rain Suede with Cabela's Dry Plus is an excellent product based on my nephew's experiences.

I have the Columbia Watertight II Jacket and pants, they are lightweight and great for warmer weather. They will keep you dry and are comfortable an vented enough that it isn't overly hot in warm weather. http://www.columbia.com/mens-watertight-ii-jacket-RM2433.html

For cooler weather I have the Carhartt Shoreline Storm Defender Jacket and Bibs. In my mind this is the bet rain gear I have ever owned. It's a little too warm for summer thunderstorms, but for Fall, Winter and early Spring this stuff is great. http://www.carhartt.com/products/Shoreline-Jacket-J162 http://www.carhartt.com/products/Shoreline-Bib-Overall-100735

Grundens are hard to beat for serious rain gear. Their gauge line is right up there with any of the other breathable options

Not sure what you mean by Gave Out but you could try getting some Nikwax from REI or some similar DWR finish. All water repellent clothing pretty much can lose its effectiveness over time. Maybe with the exception of something like a poncho or frogg togg type stuff.

I love the Jacket (don't have the bibs yet). The best I have ever worn. Got it in the olive color.

It appeared the Gore Tex membrane disintegrated. The rain started to soak through and had a small tear in the pocket and yellowish white membrane type material was coming out.
